About your future team
There are currently around 300 colleagues in BI and Data Analytics. Your team consists of passionate software developers, SREs / DevOps and data scientists in an agile environment. As a polyglot engineer you can leverage advanced technologies to analyze data in the form of time series, transform knowledge into highly scalable data pipelines and improve maintenance strategy and analysis algorithms.
As there are both senior and junior Big Data Software Development positions available, the requirement of skills mentioned down below can vary. Key points are your software development experience with Python or Java/Scala and knowledge regarding big data technology.
Your proven track record includes building and maintaining large data applications and real-time data pipelines with Kafka, Yarn / HDFS, Druid, Flink, Spark, Kafka Streams or Cassandra.
You are practiced in microservices architectures, REST, Docker or Kubernetes and have strong DevOps capabilities: CI / CD, xUnit, TDD, Jenkins, ansible, bash. You are familiar with agile development methods and ready to work on-demand as a DevOps engineer.
Your English skills are advanced (German and French of advantage) and you are interested in statistics, data science, machine learning and telecommunications (LTE, wireless communication, TCP / IP and networking in general).
You work at the headquarters in Bern. There are other offices in Zurich and Lausanne, which you can decide to work at 1 to 2 days a week if needed. Your willingness to travel is less than 20% and there is home-office possibilities.
You would work 40 hours a week with flextime and have 5-week holidays on average. Since training and professional growth is very important to the company, you also have the option of taking a course of your choosing for one working week a year. You can participate in numerous company and department events and various sporting activities, such as playing basketball or going to the gym.
For the first interview you would get to know each other by phone and usually in combination with a tech test. You will be invited to Bern to gain a detailed impression of your future job and meet your new colleagues.
