Description

Lead Hardware Engineer – Embedded Systems (m/f/x)

Location: Berlin (Hybrid: 2 days Home Office)

Salary: Up to €80,000

Company Language: English

The Opportunity

I am recruiting for a Lead Hardware Engineer for my client, a rapidly scaling Green-Tech leader in the e-mobility sector. With 150 employees—30 of whom are in R&D in Berlin—the company combines the agile, high-impact spirit of a startup with the security of a successful, international business.

This role is for a true Senior professional. You will join a hardware team consisting of a Team Lead, an Industrial Designer, and two Electronics Engineers, with plans to hire two more. We are looking for someone who can "own" projects from initial requirements to mass production.

Your Role & Responsibilities

  • Project Ownership: Take full technical responsibility for features, from clarifying requirements to final delivery, for both in-house chargers and partner-specific stacks.
  • Architecture & Design: Architect mixed-signal embedded systems for AC mains applications, including schematic design, component selection, and HDI PCB layout.
  • Compliance & Validation: Lead simulation and lab validation while ensuring compliance with IEC, UL, and EMC standards.
  • Cross-functional Lead: Coordinate closely with Firmware, Mechanical Engineering, and Manufacturing teams.
  • Independence: Work with a high degree of autonomy; your ability to self-organize and communicate risks or progress proactively is essential.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years in embedded hardware development with a proven track record of bringing products to market.
  • Technical Mastery: Deep knowledge of MCU/ARM/SoC architectures, analog/digital electronics, and EDA tools.
  • Hands-on Skills: Proficiency with lab equipment (VNAs, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers) for debugging and prototype bring-up.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional communication and organizational skills are a must. You should be comfortable leading projects without micromanagement.
  • Languages: Excellent English (company language).

Nice-to-Have

  • Background in RF design (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LTE).
  • Industry experience in power conversion or automotive sectors.

What My Client Offers

  • The Environment: A newly renovated office with a stocked kitchen (plenty of snacks and yogurts) and a flat hierarchy.
  • Mobility: Access to company test cars that can be used for personal trips on weekends.
  • Culture: A collaborative team environment with regular BBQs, volleyball games, and team events.
  • Personal Growth: Free German language classes, mental well-being support, and significant employee discounts.
  • Impact: A high degree of freedom to shape core technologies in a growing R&D department.

My client is a rapidly expanding leader in the Green-Tech and E-Mobility sector. Transitioning from a successful startup to an international player with presence in 20 countries, they are at the forefront of the energy transition.
